Survival Key Chain: Flint Rod Fire starter w/P38 Can Opener for Flint Striker ( Now With White
LED Light )

Up for sale here is my personal fire starter kit. I'm always hiking and hunting in the NW Cascade Mtns and I prefer most
of the time to carry as little as possible on my persons when out and because of it I'm fascinated with small and
lightweight items.

I've looked at all the different fire starters there are out for sale and some are really bad and some good, but cost $20 or
more and are bulky in your pocket. I have several items that are small and lightweight and so I fashioned this fire starter
kit for that.

I first use a 1/4" x 2-1/2"  Flint FerroCerium Rod thats also called Swedish Firesteel. I add a High Quality P-38 Military Can
Opener thats made in the USA. Use the P38 to strike the flint rod to create a 3000+ degree spark.
The whole kit only weighs less than 1oz and doesn't take up much space in your pocket.

Originally developed for the Swedish Department of Defense, Swedish FireSteel is a flash of genius. Its 3,000°C spark
makes fire building easy in any weather, at any altitude. Used by a number of armies around the world, Swedish
FireSteel’s dependability has already made it a favorite of survival experts, hunters, fishermen and campers. It has also
found its way into cabins and backyards as a fool-proof way to light stoves and gas-barbecues.

Key Features Of the Flint Rod:
  • Durable - rated at 3000+ strikes
  • Works when wet in any weather
  • Lightweight at less than 1 oz.
  • Bright Spark - Can be used as an emergency signal
  • Produces a 3000°C (5,500°F) spark

Instructions:
1. Take a small quantity of dry grass, cotton balls, ground bark, paper or any other flammable material. Build them up into
a pile.
2. Grip the Flint rod with one hand, take hold of the striker with the other hand and position the striker against the Flint
rod closet to the handle.
3. Forcing the striker "quickly down" with the thumb of hand holding the flint rod till it catches the tinder pile on fire or
lights your gas stove. You can also scrape slowly and get a small pile of the flint dust on your tinder and it will create a
larger initial flame when lit.

Now comes with mini white led light, so you can see what your doing if you don't get your fire going by dark. Has
momentary on switch and constant on switch, just place in mouth for hands free light! Or add a large paper clip to the kit
and then use the paper clip to attach it to the bill of a hat like I do, works great.

Note: The flint rod has a coating on it to protect it from deteriorating over time the first couple times you use it you will need to scrape the same area
several times to get it to spark really good, you also have to use the backside of the P38 where there is a little edge to it, this works best. Some
people have complained they are not getting a good enough spark and I believe that is why. Plus the P38 isn't the best striker material there  is. I
would prefer to use the backside of my knife, but this is a small package meant for the smallest package possible and using the P38 and what it has
to offer in a survival situation. The more iron contained in the striker the better the sparks will be that is why plain steel knifes work best, but
sometimes you don't have the room for it.  Thanks, Have fun and be safe.

Direction Ancillary Indication - Water Compass

While it may seem implausible, you can actually create a compass by rubbing wire, paperclip or a pin through your hair, despite the
fact that your hair is not magnetic and the normal magnetizing procedure involves rubbing metal against a magnet. To use you need
to place the tool on a flat surface on the plastic sleeve that it comes with. Place a couple drops of water in the Orientation Direction
Indicator to make level with the surface of the tool. Place the magnetized hair-rubbed wire slowly on the water or on a small leaf if it
wont float on the waters surface tension. It should slowly align north/south.
